Residents of Domeabra clash with Agona SDA School management over road block: Which institution’s failure caused it?
Some residents of Domeabra, a suburb of Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly have expressed their anger and antagonism over the blockage of a road which passes through the compound of Agona SDA Basic school.
The residents, who on Saturday, 11th January, 2020 stormed the premises of the School, which shares same compound with the Agona Central SDA church to protest against this move by the school’s leadership, strongly maintain that that road has been used for over two (2) decades and serves as the only route to their homes, hence, the blockage is affecting them.

A leading member of the protesters, Emmanuel SK Kwofie, in an interview with Morning Show host Sammy Junior on Radio Ahanta argued that the residents were not informed about the blocking of the road, adding that “Honourable Odo Kwasi told me in a phone call that he’s not aware of the barrier.” He, however, admitted that most of the residents do not know that the road in the school is not the right access to their homes.
Currently, the road which leads from Labonita junction to the school is blocked by the residents to prevent the pastor and others from using it because that plot is not a road, just like the school compound.
The school’s justification.
Local manager of the school, Pastor C. K. Appiah-Kubi, defended the blockage stating that “we need to do something to protect the children.” To him, he has been working on this issue for almost a year by informing the Assemblyman but unfortunately nothing has been done. He also made it clear that it is in the interest of the parents and the safety of the pupils that the road is blocked just at where the children assemble in the morning and afternoon so it shouldn’t be seen something by the church but the school.
“It is not my duty to call the community or do what town planners are to do.”
“We need to hold the town and country planners to task,” he instructed.
Moreover, the headteacher of the school, Mr. Joseph Kwaw, registered his displeasure at how “the compound has been converted into roads, not just road.” In a letter dated 8th January, 2020 the headteacher notified the director of education to, through the Assembly, re-direct the road to safeguard the lives of the pupils in the school.

Assemblyman concedes
Mr Thomas Odo Kwasi (Hon) has admitted that he was informed to take the necessary steps to get another access road for the residents.
“I sent a reminding letter to the Assembly, meanwhile when I showed the plan of the area to the residents, they told me I’m not a surveyor.”
“I informed town and country planning yet they never gave me the time they would be advancing steps on it; they might have delayed because Assembly was dissolved then,” he recounted.
This the back of the school building which according to the plan available to chrisdaily.news.blog and Radio Ahanta must be used as the road.
