1.6 kilometer Nyankrom Junction-Nyankrom road to be completed soon- Shama DCE assures
District Chief Executive for Shama, Joseph Amoah has assured of government’s commitment to get the 1.6 kilometer Nyankrom Junction-Nyankrom road project executed by 2020. According to him, government’s indebtedness to road contractors are being cleared to motivate them resume and complete all outstanding works initiated by the previous administration.
Queen mother for Nyankrom who is also the Acting Paramount Queen mother of Shama Traditional Area, Nana Akosua Gyanfiaba ll at the 35th National Farmers’ Day Celebration threatened that the NPP government will have themselves to blame if they fail to fix the road.
In a response, Mr. Amoah explained that the contractor, Messrs New Case Properties and Investments Limited has been invited by the Roads Ministry to process certificates for payments, and as such received word of assurance from the contractor of getting the project competed in the coming week.
“He’s [contractor] given the assurance that, as soon as he’s given some money, he will come and complete the Nyankrom road” he stated.
The bitumen surfacing road project was awarded by the erstwhile Mahama government in 2016. Some physical work was done by the contractor but due to government’s inability to honour payment for work done, the contractor abandoned site.
