Ahanta West MP nominated to ECOWAS parliament

Member of Parliament for Ahanta West Constituency, Ebenezer Kojo Kum has been nominated to serve on the Community Parliament of ECOWAS. Patnaya Foundation donates to children at Aboom School for Special Needs

Patnaya Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation committed to helping the less privileged, PATNAYA foundation yesterday donated assorted items to Children with special needs at the Aboom School for Special Needs of the Central Region. The items, which included; toiletries, bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, drinks, boxes of tomatoes, Stationaries, washing powders, scrubbing brushes, mob bucket, sanitary pads and  among others, valued at GHC4,000.00 were donated to the management of the School as members of the Foundation also spent time playing with the children. Southey Contracting Limited celebrates xmas with Sekondi School for the Deaf

Southey Contracting, an industrial and engineering services company in Ghana’s upstream oil and gas sector, has extended some of the excitement of its Christmas package to pupils of the Sekondi School for the Deaf in the western region, with a donation of assorted provisions and food items. Southey Contracting Limited made the donation to the school in line with its policy of promoting good corporate neighborliness, and to show commitment to the development of the school.  The donation, which took place at the school’s premises was aimed at putting smiles on the faces of the pupils in the Christmas festive season. Ghana Gas promises to provide scholarships for journalists

Journalists in the Western Region are to expect some incentive from the Ghana National Gas Company Limited to build their capacity in the oil and gas industry. This offer, according to the Head of Corporate Communications for Ghana National Gas Company Limited, Ernest Owusu Bempah will be in the form of scholarships. Addressing journalist in the Western Region over the weekend in a press soiree, Mr Owusu Bempah explained that the scholarship will offer beneficiaries to advance learning in the industry to enrich their reportage and career development. He added that management had already initiated deliberations into the subject and shall be concluded soon. Shama: NADMO intensifies campaign to fight fire accidents and disasters

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service in the Shama District has embarked on sensitization exercise to curb bush-fire and domestic fire accidents or disasters. The community outreach program drawn from the International Day for Disaster which was observed in October this year, was extended to Assokor Essaman a rural community in the Shama District of the Western Region. The rationale for this exercise, according to the District Coordinator for NADMO, Michael Nyan is to instill some best practices and attitudes in the citizenry on disaster control management, especially fire, as we get into the harmattan season. The Kwesimintsim Government Hospital is a heavily attended health facility with over 7,000 OPD attendance every month. over 5,000 of these patients are admitted annually for treatment, with a record of over a thousand maternal health every year. The hospital serves residents of the Kwesimintsim Municipality and adjoining districts. Since the facility was upgraded from a polyclinic to a hospital, no major expansion works had been carried The hospital is the first point of call when accidents and other emergency cases occur on the main Kwesimintsim-Agona-Nkwanta highway.  However, the hospital has no accident and emergency block. STMA: Teacher Unions call strike over unpaid arrears

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT-GH), have declared a strike over salary arrears. According to the teacher unions, the latest action which took effect on Monday, December 9, 2019, follows a series of engagements with the government on Legacy Arrears incurred between 2012 and 2016. The three unions in the jointly signed statement say the lack of adherence on the part of the government to these demands has necessitated the strike. An Accra High Court yesterday heard how the former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Christine Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, took an amount of GH¢500,000 in a ‘Ghana  Must Go’ bag at a filling station in Accra. The money was a refund of an investment MASLOC made in a private microfinance company, Obaatanpa Microfinance Company Limited, in 2014. The refund was necessitated by a high interest demanded on the investment made by the erstwhile managers of MASLOC under the leadership of Ms. Attionu. It would be recalled that the Attorney General at the beginning of the trial of the ex-MASLOC boss said the money was never returned to MASLOC, as she allegedly appropriated it. The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says management systems of the ambulances that will be distributed across the constituencies in Ghana will be tracked by a digital address system. Speaking at the 3rd Chamber Business Awards 2018, Vice President Dr. Bawumia said by the end of next month, when ambulance numbers are called in times of distress, the problem of having to identify locations would be a thing of the past. “We are making sure that we have an ambulance management system to manage these ambulances. So every ambulance is going to be uniquely tracked, fitted with tablets and with all the digital address systems. So, by the end of next month, when you dial the 112 number, the police ambulance or fire service will know exactly the digital address from which that call is coming,” he said. Residents of Sekondi Takoradi have been battling water Scarcity for a week.  The shortage has badly affected the daily activities of residents since they had to walk for long distance to fetch water with regard to domestic and commercial activities. Residents who spoke to Egudzeonline say they are unhappy with Ghana Water Company for not alerting them before closing the taps. " At least they should  have known better by making proper announcement like how sometimes Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) announced." They stated.
